From on-site solar energy and beehives to green building certifications and water conservation systems, we are taking practical and meaningful steps to mitigate the impacts of climate change in our portfolio operations. With a return-on-investment approach, we're incorporating innovative solutions for the benefit of all our stakeholders.
Renewable Energy
Tanger strategically invests in on-site solar systems and grid-tied green power to do our part in the global transition to a lower carbon future and improve the financial performance of our portfolio. We are also proud to offer EV charging at over 90% of our centers and to have electrified most of our operational fleet.
Biodiversity
We are enhancing biodiversity across our centers by creating green spaces that support pollinators and native species, such as rooftop gardens and urban beehives. Alongside providing fresh produce and educational opportunities, these efforts foster healthier ecosystems in our communities, as do sustainable operations like eco-friendly landscaping, water conservation, and natural pest management.
Green Program Participation
By participating in leading sustainability certification programs, we benchmark our performance and assimilate industry best practices for continued improvement. Over half our portfolio is certified to rigorous LEED standards, and we maintain the WELL Health + Safety Rating for our full managed U.S. portfolio. We are also pursuing the Green Lease Leaders designation by engaging our tenant partners in achieving our shared climate resiliency goals.
Water and Waste
We partner with national services providers and local programs to conserve water and effectively manage waste at our centers. Through innovative initiatives, we're minimizing water use while ensuring we meet the needs of our retail partners and guests, and we're diverting even more of our waste from landfills across our portfolio - from paper and plastic to mixed materials, polybags, and cooking oil.
